Our mission at blue marble learning scene is to bring environmental wonder and awe to humans of all ages, by providing a safe space for unique exploration and growth, in the hopes that individuals are encouraged to take personal and meaningful actions in their everyday lives.

We want to express our gratitude to the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and Wendat Peoples, who are the original inhabitants of the Katarokwi area, the Land upon which we live. This Land nourishes our body and soul through its teachings, its offerings, and its beauty, allowing us to find wonder and awe in each and every day. In gratitude for this relationship, where we are but one piece, we strive to be a part of the Land, not apart from it. By listening to, and learning from, the voices of the original Peoples we will strive to responsibly connect ourselves and others with the Land and its Peoples. We promise to be caregivers to the Land and help others become caregivers, giving gratitude that the Land and its original Peoples remain patient with us.
Why blue marble?
Our Name
Why blue marble? Our name inspiration came from the Earth image taken by the crew of Apollo 17 in 1972, which became a key visual in the environmental movement of the day - clearly illuminated and highlighting the isolation and fragility of our plant. With a goal of reconnecting humans with this beautiful planet we live on, taking inspiration from this image seemed only natural.
Why does blue marble learning scene have no capitals?
We decided not to capitalize our name because nature is not capitalized in sentences. We are all about nature and want to be connected with nature in all aspects.
Our Logo
Thanks to the talent of Olivia Jane Designs, our logo is a perfect representation of the interconnectedness of the environment. Olivia named it ‘Earth in Pieces’. To us, this clearly represents how the environment is made of separate pieces that fit together. But as humans, there is still more for us to learn and thus the pieces don’t always appear to fit perfectly. Nature has more to teach us before we can grasp how the human scene, hydrologic scene (water), biologic scene (plants and animals), and geologic scene (rocks) are truly interconnected.
