Join us to explore birds and birding on this special edition of walking with blue marble.

Special Winter Walk

Join us again this year to explore winter on this special edition of walking with blue marble.

Why is it special? Enjoy a guided walk but also:

  3. a special add-on to enrich your walk experience

Last year our winter scavenger hunt during the walk was lots of fun, so this year we are doing something similar. On the 1 hour walking component of the event we will send you on different tasks from investigating snow depth to exploring lake ice (safely). Enjoy the wonders of nature while learning about energy transfer, snow accumulation, different types of snow, and trees!

Perfect for everyone, ages 0-99! Bring the whole family!

Nature Day will be held at Confederation Park in Kingston on October 14 from 1-4pm.

Come to Nature Day to connect with and learn about nature through FREE activities, presentations, information, and more!

Join blue marble learning scene and other such as Turtles Kingston, Kingston Forest and Nature School, Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, Kingston Frontenac Public Library, Harlowe Green as we connect with nature.

What can you expect during Nature Day

  • Raffle prizes

  • Participate in a guided butterfly / metamorphosis activity (at 1:00 and 3:30 pm)

  • How to use everyday recycled materials with Kingston Youth Climate Council (at 1:30 pm)

  • A taste of the Kingston Forest and Nature School circle time gatherings with nature-rooted stories & songs, plus a short related hands-on activity for the whole family (at 2:00 pm)

  • Design your own seed for successful dispersal to the target

  • Complete the ‘SCARY’ nature matching challenge

  • Explore rocks and minerals

  • Build a caterpillar

  • Identify your Ontario turtles

  • Pick up a ‘I brake for turtles’ bumper sticker

  • Enjoy a game about the impact of lead sinkers and fish hooks on wildlife

  • Practice your wildlife rehabilitation practice skills
